Dan Howell, Proud Proctor Employee since 1978

I have been part of Proctor Place since 1978. I knew I wanted to build a career in the long term care industry and quickly found that Proctor Place was a great place to work.

Full story

Dan is our most tenured team member. It is people like Dan that make a true difference at Proctor Place’s senior living home. Unlike many employers, we don’t experience much turnover. Our focus on family values and our commitment to team members results in a long tenured team, and low turnover.

In our healthcare senior living center, our management team’s average tenure is 13 years. What’s more, our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) team has an average tenure of six years. Many retirement communities have difficulty finding and retaining qualified team members. Whether living in one of our independent living options, or depending on someone for your complete care and day-to-day essentials, you need to trust that the person caring for you has your best interests at heart, and simply cares about you.

Night watchman – and so much more – since 1978

Dan Howell started his Proctor career on June 23, 1978. From the beginning, Dan’s goal was to build a career in the long term care industry. He quickly found Proctor Place was a great place to work and he delighted in working with residents, including those recently retired and those needing more care.

Dan considers the residents and other team members here to be like a second family. It is one of the reasons why he enjoys coming to work decades later. Like so many team members at Proctor Place, Dan goes above the call of duty. It’s not unusual to find him tending to little extras like fixing a radio or something else needing repair. In the summer, he’s known for tomatoes, fresh from his garden. Dan adds extra tomato plants to his personal garden each year to be sure there are plenty to share with the 200+ extended family members at Proctor.

In 1978, Dan made Proctor his first job. He’s clear that this will also be his last job. Today, the safety and security of the residents at Proctor Place is Dan’s top priority, just as it was when he got started. Along the way, he’s added thousands of new family members as the reward for his many years of dedicated service.
