Resident Testimonials: A Daughter’s View

Resident Testimonials: A Daughter’s View

As a child living over two hours away from my mother I worried about her safety and happiness. I knew talking to her about moving into a retirement community would not be easy. I also knew it was the best option for mom and one that I thought she would learn to love.
Luckily, I found Proctor Place and I was right. They made the process easy and helped mom feel comfortable from the very beginning. She loves Proctor Place and so do I!

Full Story

Nancy Ikert was very involved with helping her mother, Marguerite, select a new home. Marguerite lived alone and understood that it was becoming more difficult to take care of a home and safely handle household chores. Doing laundry in her basement was becoming a challenge and with Nancy living three hours away, a change was needed. Of course, many parents are concerned with spending money rather than trying to save the money for their children. Nancy, like most children, was far more concerned about her mother being safe.
Nancy and Marguerite looked at several options and decided Proctor Place was the right choice for them. One of the deciding factors was the flexibility with Marguerite’s gluten free diet. They were also aware of Proctor Place’s excellent reputation.

Nancy takes advantage of using Proctor Place’s guest room and visits regularly. Several months after her mother moved in, Nancy is pleased with the decision and said, “Residents and staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is good and works with mom’s gluten free diet. Proctor is a great place and the continuation of care takes the stress out for the family.”

When asked her advice on what she would tell others that are helping their parents through this process, Nancy says, “Have your parent move in when they are in good health so they can enjoy the home – the younger the better.”
