Thomas Kouri, MD

Medical Director (private practice)

Dr. Kouri graduated from Peoria Spalding Institute in 1974. He later earned an undergraduate degree from St. Louis University. He earned a medical degree from St. Louis University Medical School in 1982 and is a board certified internist. He was part of the Internal Medical Group of Gully, McShane, & Rusch from 1985 to 1992. From 1992 to 2000, he was part of OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He has served as the Medical Director of Proctor Place since 1986 and has a passion for geriatrics. In addition, he has also maintained an independent private practice in Peoria since 2000. Dr. Kouri is a sports enthusiast supporting the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, but our St. Louis Cardinal fans try not to hold that against him. He is married to Rosie Roberts Kouri and they have three children. One of their daughers is a teacher, while the other two followed in is footsteps with another daughter working as a nurse and a son who is currently in medical school.

Brian D. Cohen, MD

Assistant Medical Director (employee at Methodist Medical Center)

Dr. Cohen was born and raised in the Peoria area and attended Richwoods High School. He was actively involved in basketball in high school and college. He attended Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and graduated in 1984 as a board certified internist. Dr. Cohen entered private practice in downtown Peoria and in the early 1980s moved his practice to its current location on South Jefferson Street. Dr. Cohen joined Methodist Medical Group in 2005, adding this to his private practice. He splits his time between his office, administrative duties at Methodist, and care for resident patients at Proctor Place. His service to Proctor Place residents spans more than 10 years.

Dr. Cohen participates in several committees at Methodist Medical Center, including the Leadership Team Committee and Executive Planning Committee. He is also the Specialty Pod Medical Director for Methodist Medical Groups as well as overseeing the medical direction of 12 offices.

He’s a Chicago Cubs fan who also enjoys golfing at different courses throughout the country. Dr. Cohen has two daughters, one son and one grandson.
