In 2003, a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine shared that people who took part in ballroom dancing at least twice a week had a lower incidence of dementia. Whatever the type of dancing you are able to do, your health will reap the benefits. Just like walking and other low-impact, weight bearing activities, dancing can offer the following benefits:
- Strenger bones and muscles
- Improved posture and balance, which can prevent falls
- Increased stamina and flexibility
- Reduced stress and tension
- More self confidence
- Social interaction
- Prevention of illnesses like diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, osteoporosis, and depression
On November 5th, Proctor Place residents can come to dance, or even just listen to the music provided by the Howard Quartet.
