John B. Wahlfeld
John B. Wahlfeld

John has been on the John C. Proctor Endowment Board of Trustees since 2003. He has spent most of his life in Peoria, with wife Jill Canterbury. They have two children and three grandchildren.

John was a fourth generation owner of Wahlfeld Manufacturing Company until he sold the business in 1996. He joined the American Red Cross in 1997. John earned an undergraduate degree from Principia College and an MA degree in History from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

He has a history of community involvement, including Neighborhood House, Peoria Historical Society, WCBU, Peoria Symphony, Peoria Rotary, Peoria Association of Fundraising Professionals, and National Sash and Door Jobbers Association.

John has a personal connection to Proctor. His mother-in-law was a resident for five years and he and wife Jill have a number of family friends as residents.

“Proctor is unique in a challenging retirement community. The dedication and commitment of John Proctor’s family is special. Not to use an overworked phrase, but we are ‘helping make a difference.’ The Board is a continuing learning experience which makes it enjoyable and interesting. Most importantly, the residents are wonderful and interesting people”
