Harry C. Stone II
Harry C. Stone II

Harry joined the John C. Proctor Endowment Board of Trustees in 1986. He served as the organization’s Chairman from 1996 until March of 2021 when his son, J. Andrew P. Stone was elected Chairman. Harry continues to serve on the Board as a Trustee and is proud to continue to be part of the Proctor legacy. His grandmother, Edith Proctor Stone, was John C. Proctor’s great niece. Harry earned a BA degree in History from Yale University as well as an MD from University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He served a medical internship and residency in Dermatology from 1970 to 1977. During that time, he served as a general medical officer in the Army Medical Corps in Germany, with the rank of Major. In 1977 he returned to the Peoria medical community and was associated with Central Illinois Dermatology, SC, until retiring in 2009.

He is married to Sally Stone. They have two children, Andrew and Margaret.

Harry served as a Director of First National Bank of Peoria from 1978 until 1992. He also served briefly on the board of the Commerce Bank of Illinois, was president of the Illinois Dermatological Society in 1986, and was a Trustee of the Peoria Park District from 1985 to 1993. He has also been actively involved with the Illinois Chapter of the Nature Conservancy and is a member of the Peoria Rotary Club.

“It is a privilege and honor to carry on the work and responsibilities of the board of an institution that has been a part of Peoria for more than 100 years. My family has had at least one member on the board since its founding by John C. Proctor in 1906.”
