Elizabeth Leiter Khazzam
Elizabeth Leiter Khazzam

Elizabeth is a graduate of Boston University and a dedicated civic leader with a deep commitment to her community. She is currently serving her seventh year as a City Council member for the Village of Peoria Heights, where her primary focus has been economic development while actively contributing to all facets of municipal governance. Prior to her election to public office, Elizabeth played an integral role in the redevelopment of Junction City Lifestyle Center, helping transform a once-dilapidated property into a vibrant retail destination for the broader community.

She is most proud of the family she has raised and remains actively engaged in civic and philanthropic organizations, including the DAR, Peoria Woman’s Club, Women’s Athletic Club of Chicago, NSCDA-IL, Boca Grande Women’s Club, and the Social Register. Elizabeth has also served as a Board Member for Peoria Academy and First Federated Church, where she was a member of the Finance Committee. Outside of her civic work, she enjoys outdoor pursuits, reading, board games, travel, and interior design—a field in which she has worked for more than 25 years.
